Sunday Feb 22, 2015 – Winter Engagement Session
Jamie and Rob just came back from a Tropical Vacation, and launched right back into winter with a very VERY cold winter engagement session at Adam’s Mom’s Farm.
This is actually the first engagement photo session that Ive done there, although Ive done maternity and family sessions, nothing in -12 (-20 with the wind chill). The farm is located North of Shelburne, in Mulmur – or the Hills of Headwaters… and being up on those hills, you get the wind.
Jamie and Rob dressed for the occasion. They both wore leather gloves, and Jamie rocked a pair of black ear warmers (I almost wrote “ear muffs”… that’s old school isn’t it?). Oh and Jamie and I have the same boots so at least I KNEW her feet were warm because these boots are the bomb!
Jamie said “I thought winter photos would be pretty, but I hate the cold!” LOL I think they’ll find it was worth it 🙂 I’m pretty sure despite the cold that the had fun during their winter engagement session.
Here is their Engagement Story as told by Jamie:
Rob and I met while living in Toronto almost four years ago now. We actually met on an online dating site which is not very romantic but very common in Toronto (I promise!)
Rob asked my Dad’s permission back in November 2013, depending on the day he tells the story; he was either asking, or more just telling myDad that he was going to propose to me. He is horrible at keeping secrets (or Ijust know him too well) and he was acting strange in December/January before we were scheduled to go on a trip to Punta Cana with my parents in January 2014.
He knows how close I am with my parents so I think he knew our family trip would be the perfect place to ask me. He was very set on us seeing the sunrise on the first morning there, and talked about it for weeks before the trip.
On the actual day; regardless of the fact that we were both super hung over from the night before, we still had to get up at 5am for the sunrise. So there we were, on the beach watching the sunset, he got down on one knee; I interrupted him and asked him not to use my middle name once I realized what he was doing… I said yes, and then we went back to bed haha.
I think he was just super nervous and excited so he probably wasn’t very good at trying to hide the random errands he was running before the trip. If he hadn’t proposed on that trip he would have actually had a lot of explaining to do about all of the random things – like him flying back from work in Montreal for just an afternoon to check the mail and then go back to work that night before I was done work for the day… turns out he ordered the ring online and thought I wouldn’t notice if he borrowed my car from my office parking lot to go and pick up the ring!
You sneaky devil Rob!
I’m looking forward to documenting Jamie & Rob’s wedding at the South Shore this August, they’re a lot of fun,and such a great match. I can already tell their first day as husband and wife will be amazing!
